Dual admission courses for college credit

Through Shenandoah University, Blue Ridge Community College, Piedmont Virginia Community College, and several accredited online college courses, Fishburne offers students the opportunity to earn college credit。Students enrolled in dual-enrollment programs will receive high school credit for each course and up to six semesters of college credit。Each dual admission program adds a full score to the grade point value。Therefore, A will get 5 points。The dual-enrollment program consists of a full school year of work and is comparable to college and university programs。Students who take dual-admission courses and earn a grade of "C" or higher will receive college credit。

Dual enrollment \ English \ Creative writing

Deep reading and extensive writing are the foundations of this college preparatory course。Topics of no less than 500 words per week include discussions of novels, plays, poems and short stories chosen by the instructor。Students can also write poems, short stories or plays to replace some of the weekly themes。Classes study fiction and drama, and each student writes a term paper。The course includes an introduction to linguistics and the history of English language and grammar in the United States。The course is only open to seniors with a recommendation from a junior English teacher。This is a dual-admission course where students can earn both high school and college credits。

Dual enrollment \ biology

DE Biology is a two-semester course offered in partnership with Shenandoah University through which recommended senior students can earn credit for BIOL101/102 while attending high school。The course will cover basic concepts and applications related to biology, the details of which are consistent with what one would expect from an introductory university course。Topics covered will include scientific processes, ecology, cell biology, genetics, evolution, biological classification, population genetics, and human impact on the environment。Science reading/writing will be introduced and laboratory activities will be submitted in laboratory report format。

Dual enrollment \ advanced United States government

This two-semester course is a survey of the history of the United States from colonial times to the present day。Students read extensively from primary sources and complete in-depth semester projects on selected topics。This is a dual-enrollment program where participants earn high school and college credits through Shenandoah University。
